Opening log file attachments
BMC AppSight attaches files that are required for log analysis to the log file that is recorded.
For example:
- Configuration files that affect the application, such as .INI files and .NET config files
- Log files created by the application being recorded (not using the Black Box)
You define the files that will be attached to the log in the Attachments tab of the Recording Profile dialog box.
When saving the log, the specified files are saved in the Black Box log (.ASL file), and you can open them from within the BMC AppSight System Console.
You can open the attachment(s) after opening the log in the AppSight System Console. When you open the log, the Show log attachments toolbar button and the View menu's Log Attachments option are activated.
To open log file attachments in the BMC AppSight System Console:
- After opening the log in the AppSight System Console, click on the Show log attachments option. The Log Attachments dialog box is displayed with the details of the attached file(s).
- To open the file(s), select the file name and click the Open Attachments command button.
The appropriate application, such as Notepad, will open the selected file.
