Your license determines the number of Watchpoints that the system can collect and store data for at any given time. To create space for new Watchpoints, you can stop the system from collecting and storing data about those Watchpoints that you do not use frequently and save their configuration settings for later use. This is known as archiving Watchpoints.

When you archive a Watchpoint, the system deletes all data that is currently stored for the Watchpoint and saves its configuration settings. Archived Watchpoints are inactive. You can access archived Watchpoints and activate them again from the Archived Watchpoints page.

Example

If your account is limited to 20 Watchpoints per Real User Analyzer instance, and you have three Analyzer instances, the total number of available Watchpoints is 60.

On the Application Management Console, you will see three numbers that indicate current state:

  • Total licensed — total number of licensed Watchpoints
  • Used — number of Watchpoints in use
  • Free — number of available Watchpoints

If you ran out of Watchpoints licensed to your account, you have two options of moving forward:

  • Clean up some of the existing Watchpoints to free space for the new ones. This action is irreversible.
  • Buy more Watchpoint credits.

To archive a Watchpoint

To perform this procedure, you must have Operator-level access, or higher.

  1. In the Real User Analyzer interface, go to Administration > Watchpoint management, and then click Available Watchpoints.
  2. From the shortcut menu for the Watchpoint that you want to archive, select Archive.

The system stops collecting and storing data for this Watchpoint, and deletes all data stored for it, but saves its configuration for later use. The Watchpoint appears in the list of archived Watchpoints. Now, you can create space for more active Watchpoints on the system.

To dearchive a Watchpoint

To perform this procedure, you must have Operator-level access, or higher.

Warning

You must have fewer than the number of available configured Watchpoints that your license permits at one time.

  1. In the Real User Analyzer interface, go to Administration > Watchpoint management, and click Archived Watchpoints.
  2. From the shortcut menu for a given archived Watchpoint, select De-archive and turn on.

The system dearchives the Watchpoint and makes it available.

Note

De-archiving a Watchpoint does not recover data that the system collected for it previously.
