This topic explains how to obtain the BMC Real End User Experience Monitoriing files for installation and documentation. The product is a system of components. You download and install these components separately and then interconnect them to form the system.

The product files that you download from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website might contain patches listed on the product Customer Support web page. If the EPD page shows that a patch is included, you do not need to obtain that patch separately.

To download the BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring and Analytics installation files

  1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

    Note

On Microsoft Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image must not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, proceed to step 6.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose. If necessary, use the Profile list to select a different profile.
  7. From the Component View (the default view), in the Filter Products text box under Products, type part or all of the product name (BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring) and press Enter, or click Go.

    Note

Only the product components entitled for the licenses you own will be displayed.

  8. In the pop-up window, select the version (default selection is the latest GA version), the platform (if applicable), and click Go.

  9. Click the appropriate tab:

    • Products—Displays the product files and supplementary related files available for download.

    • Patches—Displays the patch and service pack files available for download.

    • License Information—Displays the files related to licenses.

    • Documentation—Displays the Online Technical Documentation links and the offline zip files of the documentation available for download.

    Note

You cannot select files across the tabs. When you click another tab, current selections are cleared.

  10. For each tab, select the check boxes next to the files and documents that you want to download.

    • For Real User Analyzer, Real User Collector, Console, APM Central, Performance Analytics Engine, Extended Reporting, or Real User Monitor component, select one installation distribution format: ISO image files or Open Virtualization Format (OVF) template files (which are packaged in the VMDK archive file). For additional information about the installation distribution files, see Sizing considerations.

    • For other components, select the appropriate file for the platform on which you plan to install.

  11. Click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
    • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
    • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download if the connection is dropped.
This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.

To download and concatenate the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform installation files for Extended Reporting

If you plan to implement  Extended Reporting, you need to implement the SAP BusinessObjects Central Management Server and Business Objects Universe. SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.0 SP4 is available from the BMC Software Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) page for the BMC Analytics for BSM product. If you do not already have SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform installed in your environment, use the version provided by BMC to install it.

  1. If you are not already logged on to EPD, repeat step 1 through step 6 in  To download the BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring and Analytics installation files.
  2. From the Component View (the default view), in the Filter Products text box under Products, type part or all of the product name (SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform) and press Enter, or click Go..

  3. Select the check boxes next to the files and documents that you want to download. The SAP installation files are divided into multiple parts. Download all files to the same directory.

  5. Since there are multiple files for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise, you must concatenate them before performing the installation. Use the following steps:

    1. Ensure that all of the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise files are in the same directory.
    2. Execute the file with the .exe extension, for example, 51043403_part1.exe.
All of the files are concatenated, and a new directory is created. For Solaris, the directory name is 51043403.
