BMC strongly recommends implementing the Synthetic Device Configuration on a Real User Analyzer or Real User Monitor, so that you can more quickly realize value from your monitored synthetic transactions. Implement the device configuration on a new installation of the Real User Analyzer or Real User Monitor.
For a description of the configuration elements that are added for synthetic transaction monitoring, see Recommended configuration for synthetic monitoring.
Do not implement the device configuration on a system that has post-installation configurations. The device configuration resets all existing configuration to the default settings, and then applies the required settings for the synthetic transaction monitoring environment.

This topic presents the following tasks to obtain the Synthetic Device Configuration, upload it to the system, and activate its contents:
The Synthetic Device Configuration is available for download from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website at . To use the website, you must register and set up a user name and password. For information about downloading the device configuration, see Downloading installation files for synthetic monitoring.
The downloaded Synthetic-device-configuration.zip file contains the following files:
|readme.txt||File that contains device configuration description and implementation instructions|
|truesight-cfg-device-synthetic.zip||Synthetic configuration for the Real User Analyzer or Real User Monitor|
To apply the device configuration, you upload the ZIP file to the Real User Analyzer or Real User Monitor.
From the Manage configuration menu, select Upload device configuration.
