Users can perform various operations on accessible BMC ProactiveNet features depending on roles defined for the user groups to which users are associated. Roles give users permissions to perform various actions on objects accessible to the user group.

The BMC ProactiveNet features available for each user depend on the roles and permissions assigned to the user group to which the user is assigned. The roles attached to the user group give permission to access objects in the user group.

User groups can have multiple roles. One role can be assigned to multiple user groups, giving identical permissions to different user groups.

You can define and edit the permissions that are assigned to each role. Permissions are categorized based on features such as Events, Product Administration, SLOs, Reports, Graphs.

Filters are available for easy selection of permissions. You can filter according to the Action

  • View (read-only access)
  • Edit (create, edit and delete)
  • Edit only (only edit permissions)

    Note

The default event list does not display events based on permissions of devices. It displays all events based on the permissions of event collectors.

You can also filter according to the following Category of features:

  • Data Collection
  • Events Graphs
  • Miscellaneous
  • Product Administration
  • Reports
  • SLO
  • Thresholds
  • Services
  • UI Administration
  • Provisioning
  • Unified Administrator

For example, if you want a user to be able to only view graphs, you can set the action to View and select the Graphs category.

Note

Roles and users can be assigned to user groups in the User Group dialog box.
