The BMC ProactiveNet Server installation installs the following components:
- BMC ProactiveNet Server
- BMC ProactiveNet Self-Monitoring Service (also known as the local agent)
Warning
- Due to conflicts with the BMC ProactiveNet Server and the drain on the resources of the BMC ProactiveNet Self-Monitoring Service, BMC Software does not recommend enabling the BMC ProactiveNet Integration Service on the same computer where the BMC ProactiveNet Server is installed.
- BMC does not recommend using the BMC ProactiveNet Self-Monitoring Service for monitoring anything other than the BMC ProactiveNet Server.
- BMC ProactiveNet Operations Console
- BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration
The Central Monitoring Administration is installed by default while installing the BMC ProactiveNet Server on a single-server or in a multiple-server environment. For more information about the Central Monitoring Administration, see BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration architecture.
For installing the Central Monitoring Administration, as a part of the BMC ProactiveNet Server, ensure that you download the BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Repository files from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) facility or copy the files from the installation kit, and import the files during BMC ProactiveNet Server installation. You can atleast download the base repository and use that for install.

- (Optional) Sybase as BMC ProactiveNet database
Note
You can use either Sybase or Oracle as the BMC ProactiveNet database.
Warning
Before you configure BMC Atrium CMDB, ensure that BMC ProactiveNet CMDB Extensions and modules are installed on the computer where the BMC Atrium CMDB is installed. If necessary, you can stop this installation, install the extensions, and then restart the BMC ProactiveNet Server installation.
