This section provides the information about installing and uninstalling BMC PATROL for MongoDB in BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration console.

BMC PATROL for MongoDB is not a part of base repository or extended repository. You have to download the KM file (PLB_ALL_1000.zip) from the link  BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) Open link  , import it into the BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration repository, and then install it using the BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration console. Before you begin

Before you install BMC PATROL for MongoDB, you must import the Knowledge Module to the Central Monitoring Repository.

Importing KM to the Central Monitoring Repository

To import BMC PATROL for MongoDB,

  1. In the navigation pane of BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration console, click the Repository drawer and select Manage Repository.
  2. Click Import.
  3. In the Import a New Solution dialog box, select Single solution.
  4. Browse to either of the following files depending on your operating system:

    Note

     The solution must be stored on the local computer from which you are running BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration 

    • plb_ALL_1000.zip 
    • plb_ALL_1000.tar
  5. Click Import.

    The selected archive file is imported to the repository and extracted. You can close the window during the import process.

Installing BMC PATROL for MongoDB

To install BMC PATROL for MongoDB,

  1. In the navigation pane of BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration, click the Repository drawer and select Deployable Package Repository.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Select the operating system for which you want to create a package, and then select a platform on which you want to install the package. The list of components in the repository that are supported on the specified operating system and platform is displayed.
  4. From the Available components list, select MongoDB.
  5. From the Version list, select 1.0.00.
    You can also select latest, which automatically updates the package with the latest versions of the components when new versions of those components are added to the Central Monitoring Repository.
    By default, the appropriate BMC PATROL Agent for the operating system and platform that you choose are included in the Selected components list.
  6. Click the right arrow button to move the selected components into the Selected components list, and then click Next.
  7. Specify the BMC products installation directory and the PATROL 3.x product directory in the Provide the PATROL 3.x Product Directory window and click Next.

  8. Enter the PATROL default account credentials in the Provide the PATROL Default Account Properties window and click Next.
  9. Select the appropriate level of security from one of the following levels of security:
    • Advanced security options
    • Basic security (default)
  10. Select one of the following option to overwrite the current security configuration (keys, certificates, and trusted roots):
    •  Yes
    • No
  11. Specify the PATROL Agent port number, select one of the following options to restart the PATROL Agent after installation:
    • Start the PATROL Agent automatically after the installation is completed.
    • I will start the PATROL Agent manually.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Provide the BMC ProactiveNet Integration configuration details and the BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration tags in the BMC ProactiveNet Integration Configuration window and click Next.
  14. Provide the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management cell configuration details in the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Cell Configurations window and click Next.
  15. Provide the RTservers variable properties and click Next.
  16. Select one of the following options to add the selected components to Firewall Exception list:
    • Automatically add the Selected Component(s) to the Firewall Exception list
    • Do not add the Selected Component(s) to the Firewall Exception list
  17. Click Next.
  18. In the Installation Package Details window, the final summary is displayed.
  19. In the Installation Package Details window, verify that the operating system and platform are correct for the type of package that you want to create. Also verify that the components that you want to include are listed in the Included Components list.
  20. In the Installation Package Details window, provide the following information:

    • Name: Enter a unique name for the package.
    • (Optional) Description: Enter a description of the package.
      The description is displayed in the Monitoring Installation Packages list on the Deployable Package window.
    • Format: Select a file compression format for the package.
  21. Perform one or both of the following actions:

    • To save the package for future installation on the current host or other hosts, click Save Installation Package.
      The package is available in the Monitoring Installation Packages list.
    • To download the package, click Download.

      If you click Download and do not click Save Installation Package, the package is not saved in the Monitoring Installation Packages list for later use or editing.

  22. When you are finished, click Close.

After installing BMC PATROL for MongoDB, you can configure it using the BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration. For more information, see Configuring after installation.

Uninstalling

To uninstall BMC PATROL for MongoDB, delete the component (KM) from the Central Monitoring Repository. Perform the following steps to remove the MongoDB component:

  1. In the navigation pane of Central Monitoring Administration, click the Repository drawer and select Manage Repository.
  2. Select the MongoDB components that are not used in an installation package.
    The column Used within installation packages lists the number of installation packages that use the component.
  3. Click Delete and click Yes to confirm the deletion.
