This section describes how to set the platforms that a consumer parameter will run on using the PATROL Developer Console for Windows and UNIX.

Setting platforms for a consumer parameter on Windows

In this task, you set the platforms that a consumer parameter runs on.

Before you begin

Before you can set the platform for parameter you must add a consumer parameter to the application class. See, Adding a parameter to an application for information on adding a parameter.

To set the platforms for a parameter on Windows

  1. Click the On Computer Classes tab from the Parameter Properties dialog box for the appropriate consumer parameter. The Computer Class list appears for the selected parameter as shown in the following figure. The Computer Class list shows all the computer types on which the consumer parameter can run.

  2. Click the computer class against which the consumer parameter can run.
  3. Choose ALL_COMPUTERS if the parameter can be used consistently with every computer.
  4. Click Apply to save the changes to the PATROL KM.

In this task, you set the platforms that a consumer parameter runs on.

Before you begin

Before you can set the platform for parameter you must add a consumer parameter to the application class. See, Adding a parameter to an application for information on adding a parameter. As discussed earlier, the options that appear in the parameter definition dialog box depend on the type of parameter you are adding. The following figure shows the dialog box for a consumer parameter.

To   set the platforms for a consumer parameter on UNIX

  1. Click Computer Classes on the Parameter Properties dialog box for the appropriate consumer parameter.

    The Computer Classes window appears as shown in the following figure. It shows all the available computer types on which the consumer parameter can run.

  2. Click the computer class against which the consumer parameter can run.
    Choose ALL_COMPUTERS to use the parameter with every computer.
  3. Click OK to exit the list box and return to the parameter definition dialog box.
