PATROL for Exchange Servers can monitor the time required to send roundtrip messages between two remote Exchange Servers in your Exchange organization.

You can set up new roundtrip sessions to monitor Exchange Server response times. You can also modify or delete roundtrip sessions.
 

Configuring new Roundtrip session

This task describes how to configure PATROL to monitor the mail delivery between remote Exchange Servers 2007, 2010 and 2013.

  1. Access the Roundtrip application class menu as described in Accessing KM Menu Commands.
  2. Choose Setup Server to Server Roundtrip menu command to display the Roundtrip Configuration dialog box.

    Note

    The Roundtrip Configuration box lists the servers that you have previously set up. When you access this box for the first time, it will be blank.

  3. To create a new Roundtrip session, select Add, and then click OK to display the New Roundtrip Session dialog box.
  4. Enter or select the following configuration information:

    Supplying information regarding the Target Mailbox Server is mandatory. Besides this, supplying information for any other field is optional.

     

    1. Target Mailbox Server: The Exchange Server to which test message will be sent.
    2. Identity (Source Mailbox Server Name): The name of the Source Mailbox Server from which a test message will be sent.
    3. Active Directory Timeout: The number of seconds that lapse before the task provides a message about the delay. (Default:15 seconds).
    4. Execution Timeout: The maximum time that this task can run before the test is determined to be a failure. (Default: 240 seconds).
    5. Cross Premises (Exchange Servers 2010 and 2013): Select True, if your organization is using a cross-premises deployment and you want to verify cross-premises mail flow.
    6. Cross Premises applies only for Exchange Servers 2010 and 2013. When configuring a roundtrip session for Exchange Servers 2007, leave the Cross Premises box blank.
  5. Click OK

The PATROL console configures the new Roundtrip server session in the Roundtrip Configuration dialog box.
