PATROL for Microsoft Exchange Servers (also referred to as PATROL for Exchange Servers) contains the knowledge that PATROL uses to monitor, analyze, and manage Microsoft Exchange Servers. PATROL for Exchange Servers supports the Microsoft Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 Server product.

Verify that the target computer meets the installation requirements listed in the following table.

Browser

This product uses Common Installer 7.5.21, which requires a browser. For a list of supported browsers, see the PATROL Installation Reference Manual.

Security levels

PATROL security levels for Microsoft Exchange Servers

The PATROL security level is set during the installation of the PATROL infrastructure components. Knowledge Modules (KMs) inherit this security level. PATROL for Exchange Servers does not provide an opportunity to change the security level during installation.

License

You must have a valid demonstration license (typically good for 30 days) or a permanent license to run your PATROL products. If you do not have a permanent license, contact your BMC Software sales representative.

PATROL for Exchange Servers inherits the port number you specified when you installed the agent.

If you are installing PATROL for Exchange Servers as a resource in an Exchange cluster group, you must install the PATROL Cluster Configuration Wizard on each cluster node.

PATROL for Exchange Servers requires that the PATROL Agent function as a COM object. To allow this functionality, the PATROL Agent is temporarily stopped during the PATROL for Exchange Servers installation, and the PATROL Agent COM security level is changed from w, the default setting, to f.

PATROL for Exchange Servers Configuration Wizard requires installation of the PATROL Configuration Manager.

Note

PATROL Cluster Configuration Wizard is supported only on Exchange Servers 2003 and 2007. Later versions of Microsoft Exchange Servers are not supported.
