Performing quorum tasks


This topic describes how to perform the following quorum-based tasks for the BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Cluster Server KM:

Defining quorum properties

Warning

To perform this task, you must use an account that is within the domain and has cluster administration privileges.

To set quorum properties, proceed as follows:

  1. Access the MCS_Cluster application class menu as described in Accessing KM menu commands.
  2. Choose the Cluster Admin > Cluster Properties > Quorum menu command to display the Properties dialog box.
  3. From the Quorum Resource drop-down list, select the partition you want to use as the quorum resource.
  4. In the Cluster Maintenance Filessection, perform the following:
    • From the Partition drop-down list, select the partition where you want to store the maintenance files.
    • In the Root Path field, enter the root path where you want the files stored within the partition.
    • In the Reset Quorum Log At field, enter the value (in kilobytes) at which you want the quorum log reset.

      You can also define quorum properties by Accessing KM menu commands. off a quorum instance.

Moving the quorum resource to a new disk

Note

To perform this task, you must use an account that is within the domain and has cluster administration privileges.

When you move the quorum to a different disk, you must also move the PATROL Uptime application to the same disk.

To move the PATROL Uptime application to the new quorum disk, proceed as follows:

  1. Take the cluster resource PATROL Uptime offline.
  2. Copy the PatrolUtil directory from its original drive to the new quorum drive.
  3. Change the resource property parameters Command Line and Current Directory values to reflect the new path for PATROL Uptime.
  4. Bring PATROL Uptime online.
