Upgrading

This topic provides information about upgrading the KM from an earlier version.

Upgrade from version 4.0.00 to version 4.1.00

You can upgrade from version 4.0.00 to version 4.1.00 of PATROL for iSeries. Perform the following steps to upgrade the KM: 

Before you begin

  1. Stop the PATROL Agent.
  2. Back up the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  3. Delete all BMC PATROL for iSeries files from the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  4. Back up the PATROL_HOME/lib/knowledge and PATROL_HOME/lib/psl directories.

To upgrade BMC PATROL for iSeries KM

  1. Install BMC PATROL for iSeries 4.1.00 KM
  2. Log on to the iSeries machine and delete the existing BMC_TSIM library by using DLTLIB BMC_TSIM command.
  3. Configure the updated PGMs on the iSeries host. For information about how to configure the PGMs, see Configuring-PGMs-on-the-iSeries-host.
  4. Restart the PATROL Agent. 

Upgrade from version 3.6.80 to version 4.1.00

Upgrade from version 3.6.80 to version 4.1.00 of PATROL for iSeries is NOT supported.

  • BMC PATROL for iSeries 3.6.80 monitors your iSeries environment locally through the iSeries machine.
  • BMC PATROL for iSeries 4.1.00 monitors your iSeries environment remotely through any of the following installed operating systems.
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, x86-64
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, x86-64
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x, x86-64
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x, x86-64
    • Suse Linux, 11,12, x86-64
