The Performance Analytics Engine component receives traffic data from Real User Analyzer instances and stores it in a central, off-board storage location. When you run a Performance Analytics query, you are sorting and filtering data (by "zooming in" on categories of most relevance) to locate the root cause of performance problems.

To make Performance Analytics Engine functionality available, you must perform the following tasks:

  1. Install at least one instance of the Performance Analytics Engine component.

  2. Add the Performance Analytics Engine instance to the BMC Application Performance Management Console.

  3. Assign a storage location for the Performance Analytics Engine.

  4. Assign  instances to serve as data providers for the Performance Analytics Engine.

The storage location is on a server that has already been set up in your IT infrastructure, with an SMB/CIFS or NFS interface. For sizing information, see Sizing Performance Analytics Engine instances.
