Developing

This section provides information about extending or customizing the product and about developing applications with its development environment.

The BMC Release Package and Deployment (RPD) system APIs are interactive network services that you can use to control basic system functions. With the APIs, you can:

• Create and manage channels, environments, routes, and packages
• Query lists of defined resources in the system
• Initiate deployments

The API is defined in the following interfaces:

• Socket-based protocol
• RESTful interface

Starting with RPD 4.4, the API service is installed by default during installation of the product with the installer. For more information, see Installing.
