You cannot upgrade directly from BMC IT Business Management Suite version 3.8.x to version 8.0. First, you must manually install version 7.6.03 and then use the BMC IT Business Management Suite installation program to upgrade to 8.0.

Notes

  • The IT Service page in version 3.8.x contains the Class and Sub Class fields, which are not in ITBM 8.0. If you want to retain the values in the Class and Sub Class fields, you can manually add them to the Category and Sub Category fields by using the Admin page.
  • Unit of Measure has been deprecated. If you use BMC Service Cost Management, then Unit of Measure is a code table that is reflected through the consumption metric associated with the cost model.
  • Project Prioritization has been deprecated. Instead, you can use the Project Portfolio scenario to prioritize projects.

To upgrade from version 3.8.x to version 8.0

  1. Stop the application server.
  2. Set up the database server to manually update from version 3.8.x to 7.6.03.
  3. Run the installation program.
  4. Migrate data to BMC Atrium CMDB.
  5. Complete the post-installation procedures.
  6. Start the application server.
