The Application Server Metric dashlet of BMC Application Diagnostics displays the performance of a specified metric on one or more application servers over time. You select the application name, metric, server or servers, and time range. You can view and trend server metrics and correlate server issues with application transaction issues.

Configuring the dashlet

Configure the dashlet to show the performance of a specified metric on an application server over time. Configuring the dashlet involves selecting the following parameters:

  • Application—select an application name from the list of monitored applications
  • Metric—select a server metric from the list of available metrics. For a description of the metrics, see Application server metrics reference.
  • Server—select one or more servers that are associated with the specified application
  • Time range—select a time range to show the behavior over the last 60 minutes, last 24 hours, or last 7 days.

Note

Agents that do not have a specified application name (which is the default value in version 2.0 of the Agents) cannot be shown in the dashlet. To add or change an application name, see Viewing a list of Agents.Viewing a list

To configure the dashlet

  1. On the dashlet menu, click Edit Settings.
  2. (Optional) Edit the Dashlet title.
  3. Select an Application from the list.
  4. Select a Metric from the list.
  5. Select a Server from the list, or hold the Ctrl key and select more than one server.
The list of servers changes according to the selected application and metric. For example, if you select a metric that is measured only on .NET servers or only on Java servers, then only relevant servers are displayed in the list. If you select a metric that is measured on both .NET and Java servers, then all relevant servers are displayed.
  6. Select a Time range from the list.
  7. Click Save.

Viewing data in the dashlet

To display the value that a point on the graph represents, hover over the point. A tooltip shows the name of the server, the value of the metric at that point, and the time the value was recorded.
