This topic provides the system requirements for BMC Application Diagnostics components.

BMC Application Diagnostics Server (Portal and Collector) system requirements

Database requirements

  • During BMC Application Diagnostics Server installation you will install a MySQL 5.5 database locally on the same computer as the BMC Application Diagnostics Portal and Collector host. You cannot connect to a remote database.

Required resources

1. Divide the required disk size between the number of collectors. For example, if you have 2 collectors, each collector would need 1,050 GB.

BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java system requirements

Java requirements

  • The computer on which you are installing the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java must have Java already installed in order for the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent installation script to run correctly.
  • Ensure that the JAVA_HOME environment variable is configured with Java 1.6 or later.

Supported application servers

The following application servers have been tested and certified in BMC's test environment. Only those application servers with Java 1.6 or later are supported by BMC.

To correctly load current data in Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, use the following browser configuration, based on the default settings:

  1. From the Internet Explorer Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  2. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security list.
  3. Select Do not save encrypted pages to disk.
  4. Clear Enable DOM Storage.
  5. Select Use SSL 2.0.
  6. Clear Use SSL 3.0.
  7. Click OK.
