The Real User Analyzer, Real User Collector, or Real User Monitor components are a network appliance. To interoperate with external network appliances that use host names instead of IP addresses, such as time servers, SMTP servers, or SNMP servers, you must set up a domain name system (DNS) client for a component.

Configuring DNS client settings for an Analyzer or a Collector component includes the following procedures:
- (Optional) Specifying a name for an Analyzer or a Collector
- (Optional) Specifying a host name or virtual IP for an Analyzer or a Collector
- Specifying a DNS server for the device to use
- (Optional) Specifying a domain name suffix for an Analyzer
Note
When you configure DNS settings, ensure that host names do not contain underscore (_) characters, because the system refers to such host names as IP addresses.
