Integration Service nodes handle performance data and events flowing to the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server from the PATROL Agents. They are an integral and very important part of the Infrastructure Management solution infrastructure. Planning, configuring, and managing them properly is critical. The following are best practices for configuring Integration Service nodes in Central Monitoring Administration.
BMC recommends the default configurations for the following settings:
In most environments, avoid using the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server connected to the Integration Server option as the setting for the Events Destination field. If you use this setting, all events sent to the Integration Service from the PATROL Agents are directly forwarded to the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server. This eliminates the ability to do any event preprocessing including filtering, correlation, and so on before the events arrive in the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server.
Use the Cell Name option in the Events Destination field for the third and fourth Integration Service nodes in a cluster.
Avoid creating clusters in Central Monitoring Administration as part of the process in which you add Integration Service nodes to Central Monitoring Administration. Although you can do this by clicking the New button in the Add Integration Service dialog box, BMC does not recommend that you use this feature so that you avoid confusion and stay organized.
