Adding Integration Services best practices
Integration Service nodes handle performance data and events flowing to the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server from the PATROL Agents. They are an integral and very important part of the Infrastructure Management solution infrastructure. Planning, configuring, and managing them properly is critical. The following are best practices for configuring Integration Service nodes in Central Monitoring Administration.
- Add all Integration Service nodes through Central Monitoring Administration. Do not try adding them through the administration console as in previous Infrastructure Management releases.
- Always provide a meaningful name for each Integration Service node so that it can be properly identified in the environment. For example, include the network domain name where the Integration Service node is installed as part of the Integration Service node name.
- Always enter the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) for the host where the Integration Service node is installed.
BMC recommends the default configurations for the following settings:
- Connection to BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server
- Port number
- Events destination
Avoid creating clusters in Central Monitoring Administration as part of the process in which you add Integration Service nodes to Central Monitoring Administration. Although you can do this by clicking the New button in the Add Integration Service dialog box, BMC does not recommend that you use this feature so that you avoid confusion and stay organized.
