The Tideway Knowledge Update 2008-Aug-1 (TKU 2008 Aug 1) is a deliverable for Tideway Foundation platform version 7.1 and later.
TKU 2008-Aug-1 has been tested and verified against Tideway Foundation version 7.1 and 7.1.5. This TKU cannot be uploaded on a version 7.0.x appliance.
Installation and upgrade instructions are provided here.

The following bugs have been fixed in Tideway Knowledge Update 2008-Aug-1.
Case No | Defect No | Details | Pattern Module |
---|---|---|---|
12857 | 10248 | Problem: The VMwareESXServer pattern performs versioning by looking for either a package named VMware-esx-vmx or VMware-esx. However both these packages may be present on a system and they may have different revision numbers. This Resolution: Pattern updated in TKU-2008-Aug-1. The pattern now uses a different package (more reliable source) - 'VMware-hostd-esx' and also introduces an algorithm to pick the highest version number in case more than one package is found. | |
12687 | 10260 | Problem: Java VM pattern may fail to execute the active version command on Unix/Linux platfors with certain IBM Java binaries bundled with some Tivoli products. In addition the failure to execute is not detected properly by Foundation Discovery causing it to wait until it times out leading to increased scan times. Resolution: Pattern updated in TKU-2008-Aug-1. Revised the command sequence executed in the shell. | |
N/A | 10317 | Problem: Apache Tomcat can return incorrect versioning when attempting to version the product through retrieving the Release Notes file and parsing it. Resolution: Pattern updated in TKU-2008-Aug-1 with improved regular expression that is used for matching the version in the release notes file. | |
11504 | 10427 | Problem: 'sf_license_bundled' attribute in VERITAS Volume Manager pattern (that indicates whether the VERITAS Volume Manager license is part of VERITAS Storage Foundation license) not always set correctly. Resolution: Pattern updated in TKU-2008-Aug-1 with improved algorithm to set the value of the attribute. | |
11504 | 10427 | Problem: 'sf_license_bundled' attribute in VERITAS File System pattern (that indicates whether the VERITAS File System license is part of VERITAS Storage Foundation license) not always set correctly. Resolution: Pattern updated in TKU-2008-Aug-1 with improved algorithm to set the value of the attribute. | |
11504 | 10427 | Problem: 'sf_license_bundled' attribute in VERITAS Cluster Server pattern (that indicates whether the VERITAS Cluster Server license is part of VERITAS Storage Foundation license) not always set correctly. Resolution: Pattern updated in TKU-2008-Aug-1 with improved algorithm to set the value of the attribute. | |
11504 | 10427 | Problem: 'sf_license_bundled' attribute in VERITAS Volume Replicator pattern (that indicates whether the VERITAS Volume Replicator license is part of VERITAS Storage Foundation license) not always set correctly. Resolution: Pattern updated in TKU-2008-Aug-1 with improved algorithm to set the value of the attribute. |

If you have chosen not to delete the Software Instances created using a previous TKU, for any pattern where the SI key has changed, any host where the above software instances were created will have another set of software instances created following installation of a newer TKU and re-scan. The software instances created by the previous TKU patterns will disappear once they have aged out (see Tideway Foundation documentation for description of SI aging).
