This section contains information about the features in version 1.0.00 of PATROL for Oracle Enterprise Database.
After you configure an Oracle Database environment, the KM automatically discovers all the logical and physical components of the Oracle database. The KM gives you the flexibility to monitor the Oracle Database depending on the environment.
For configuration details, see:
Monitor the Oracle database health
The KM allows you to monitor the health of an Oracle database. You can enable the following components while configuring a database:
- Operating System usage − Monitor operating system utilization statistics and system resources. For a list of metrics, see Operating System Usage.
- Tablespaces − Monitor the space available and the space utilized by tablespaces. For a list of metrics, see Tablespaces.
- Sessions − Monitor sessions and user activity in the database. For a list of metrics, see Sessions.
- UNDO usage − Monitor UNDO blocks and space usage in the database. For a list of metrics, see UNDO Usage.
- Services − Monitor Oracle services executed in the database. For a list of metrics, see Services.
- Pluggable Database − Monitor the mode, size, status, and user sessions of the pluggable database. For a list of metrics, see Pluggable Database.
- Pluggable Tablespace − Monitor the space available and the space utilized by pluggable tablespaces. For a list of metrics, see Pluggable Tablespace.
- Users − Monitor user activity in the database. For a list of metrics, see Users.
- System − Monitor the system (logical and physical) performance of the database. For a list of metrics, see System.
- Jobs − Monitor the jobs in the database. For a list of metrics, see Jobs.
- Custom query − Monitor SQL query details in the database. For a list of metrics, see Custom Query.
- Standby health − Monitor all the standby Data Guard instances. For a list of metrics, see Standby health.
- Listeners − Monitor the listener status and response time of the database. For a list of metrics, see Listeners.
- Wait events − Monitor the wait time and wait count of the database. For a list of metrics, see Event Class.
- ASM − Monitor the ASM disks performance of the database. For a list of metrics, see ASM.
For information about the variables and authorizations required to monitor each monitor type, see Monitoring categories and user permissions.
Filter tablespaces
The KM enables you to filter the tablespaces by including or excluding them from monitoring. You can use regular expressions to specify the tablespaces. For more information, see tablespaces.
Set alert for jobs
The KM also allows you to set an alert in minutes for long-running and overdue jobs in the database. For more information, see jobs.
Detailed annotation messages
The KM provides detailed annotation messages along with possible corrective actions in case of any configuration failure. These annotations help you resolve the issue and configure a policy successfully.
Create custom SQL queries
You can write multiple SQL queries for a single environment. You can also view the number of records returned by the SQL query in the form of an annotation. For details, see Using custom SQL queries.
Agent actions to enable debug
You can enable the debug for a single environment or globally for all the configured environments. For more information, see Using debug logging in the TrueSight Infrastructure Management operator console.
