Product Description

VMware software provides a completely virtualized set of hardware to the guest operating system. Three products are documented on this page:

  • VMware Workstation is intended a virtual machine software suite for x86 and x86-64 computers which allows users to set up multiple virtual computers and to use one or more of these virtual machines simultaneously with the host operating system. In simple terms, VMware Workstation allows one physical machine to run multiple operating systems simultaneously.
  • VMware Server (formerly GSX Server) is an entry-level server virtualization software suite from VMware. It uses a client-server model, allowing remote access to virtual machines
  • VMware ESX Server is an enterprise-level virtualization product. It is a component of VMware's larger offering, Virtual Infrastructure, which adds management and reliability services to the core server product.

  1. It seems an upgrade to vCenter 5.5 (from 5.1) has broken the discovery of ESX clusters. Any chance of an update to the supported versions of this module?

    1. I think that you are talking about the vCenter pattern (different page to this). Please raise a case with BMC Customer Support so that it can be investigated

      1. Thanks for your reply, indeed I should have commented on the specific vCenter pattern page. I've contacted our implementation partner's service desk, so I assume they'll raise a support case.
