Product Description

Red Hat Stronghold Server is a modified version of Apache HTTP Server that added improved SSL technology - it was developed outside of the US and as such could be purchased worldwide without restriction and included an RSA license for use within the US.

At a high level, the main additional features/differences found in Red Hat Stronghold Server are:

  • Hardware Acceleration
  • SSL - Red Hat Stronghold Server used the SSL v3 implementation.
  • TSL Support - Red Hat Stronghold Server was the first Webserver to use the IETF standardised TSL encryption, notable because as opposed to SSL it did not require the use of patented algorithms.
  • Session Caching - Session Caching was added to improve performance of the hosted pages.
