Setting up NTP for the Cloud Probe
Before you install the Real User Cloud Probe, ensure that the network time protocol (NTP) is synchronized between the Real User Collector and the Cloud Probe.
Before you begin
Configure system timekeeping through the NTP on the Real User Collector. You need Operator-level access to the Collector.
To configure the NTP on Linux
- Before installing the Cloud Probe, log in to the virtual machine under root account.
- To synchronize the time between the Collector and the Cloud Probe hosts, run the ntpdate command. For example, run the following command to synchronize using an NTP pool:
ntpdate -u rhel.pool.ntp.org
Repeat the command, if necessary, until the offset parameter displays a value close to 0. - Start the NTP service by running the following command:
service ntpd start
To configure the NTP on Windows
Synchronize the Cloud Probe machine with the NTP server that you use for setting time on Real User Collector.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
