Page tree

The BMC Atrium Discovery MF Part page provides details of the MF Part. MF Parts are LPARs and may be native or virtual. The MF Parts page groups the field names in a logical format. Note that the page is divided into separate groups of information which you can collapse or expand to view as required.

The information fields for an MF Part object are arranged in the following groups:

  • Default Section: General information about the MF Part such as its name, model, and vendor. See Default Section below.
  • Identity: The identity of this MF Part. See Identity for details.
  • Operating System: Information on the operating system installed on the mainframe. See Operating System for details.
  • Storage: Information about the storage collections used by the mainframe. See Storage for details.
  • Inference: The inference details. See Inference for details.

Default Section

A list of information fields that may be displayed in the Default Section group for a mainframe object are detailed in the following table.

Field Name

Details

Name

The name of the LPAR.

Model

The model of the LPAR.

Vendor

The LPAR vendor.

Virtual

A flag indicating whether the MFPart is virtual.

Partition

A flag indicating whether the MFPart is a partition.

Software Instances

Software Instances running on this MFPart.

Mainframe

A link to the object page for the containing mainframe computer.

Sysplex

A link to the object page for the sysplex. This is modeled as a Cluster Node.

Coupling Facility

A link to the coupling facility that the LPAR is using.

Identity

The full list of information fields which may be displayed in the Identity group for a mainframe object are shown in the following table.

Field Name

Details

Part Type

The serial number of the mainframe computer.

VM ID

The description of the mainframe computer.

Virtual

States whether the LPAR is virtual.

Operating System

The full list of information fields which may be displayed in the Operating System group for a mainframe object are shown in the following table.

Field Name

Details

Discovered OS

The discovered operating system, for example, z/OS SP7.1.1..

Discovered OS Class

The discovered operating system class (for example, Mainframe).

Discovered OS Type

The discovered operating system type (for example, z/OS).

Discovered OS Version

The discovered operating system type (for example, SP7.1.1).

Storage

The full list of information fields which may be displayed in the Storage group for a mainframe object are shown in the following table.

Field Name

Details

Storage Collection

Link to the storage collections used by this MF Part.

Inference

Field Name

Details

Discovery Access

Lists Discovery Accesses for this mainframe, grouped by scan date. When an endpoint is scanned, a Discovery Access node is created. The Discovery Access node records information such as the start time, end time, the Discovery Run of which this is a part, and the previous Discovery Access to simplify troubleshooting. Clicking a Discovery Access displays the DiscoveryAccess Page for that Discovery Access. Where a Discovery Access is about to be deleted as part of DDD aging, a trash can icon is displayed next to the Discovery Access.

CMDB Synchronization

Field Name

Details

Last successful CMDB sync

The time and date at which this MFPart was last successfully synchronized into the CMDB.

Last failed CMDB sync

The time and date at which this MFPart was last unsuccessfully synchronized into the CMDB.

CMDB sync duration

The time (in seconds) spent performing the last CMDB synchronization for this MFPart.

CMDB CI count

The number of CIs corresponding to this MFPart at the last CMDB synchronization.

CMDB Relationship count

The number of relationships to CIs corresponding to this MFPart at the last CMDB synchronization.
