Supported SNMP devices
BMC Helix Discovery supports the following classes of SNMP devices:
- Network devices
- Printers
- SNMP managed devices
You can view the details of supported SNMP devices in your IT environment from the Administration UI, Discovery section, SNMP devices option. The BMC Discovery content reference (formerly Configipedia) topic

Monthly TKU releases might increase the SNMP device coverage.
To view the SNMP devices supported by BMC Helix Discovery
- From the main menu, click the Administration icon.
The Administration page opens. - In the Discovery section, click SNMP Devices.
On the SNMP Devices page, supported devices are organized in the following categories:- Vendor
- Capability
- Kind
Select a category to view the list of SNMP devices in that category.
The following information is shown for each SNMP device:
Field Name | Details |
---|---|
Model | The name of the SNMP device. |
Kind | The kind of SNMP device. This might be Network Device for switches, routers, firewalls, and so on. For printers, the kind is Printer. |
Capabilities | The capabilities, or purpose of the SNMP device; for example, Router, Switch, Layer 3 Switch, UPS, or Blade System. |
sysObjectID | The SNMP sysObjectID. |
Status | Whether the exact SNMP device has been tested by BMC. This can be either:

Notes | Any additional useful notes on the device. |
- Click a device to display a list of all of the methods that BMC Helix Discovery might use to obtain data from a device, and the Object Identifiers accessed.
Where an OID contains a table, a plus (+) icon is displayed. - Click the plus icon to reveal the table. Click the minus (-) icon to collapse the table as illustrated in the following screen.
Not all devices support all methods.
