Creating SIs in a pattern

You can write a TPL pattern that creates a Software Instance.

Usually, the pattern describes the process of SI modelling and might be based on the following non-exhaustive information:

  • Ambiguous conditions that trigger the SI creation.
  • Methods for distilling the information that is necessary for SI attributes and detail nodes population. The information can be obtained from the items that are already discovered and modeled in BMC Discovery.
  • Relationships with other items in BMC Discovery. For example, SI components, hosts and network devices that the SI depends on, and the like.

The Pattern-templates topic contains a reference of existing patterns for modeling some commonly deployed software. To create an SI that is not covered by existing patterns in BMC Discovery Technology Knowledge Updates, see the information on creating a pattern.
