Out-of-the-box discovery capabilities
BMC Discovery provides you several out-of-the-box capabilities to help you get started with discovering your IT infrastructure. For example, as soon as you configure credentials in your system, you can begin a search for software or SNMP devices in your environment.
In addition, BMC Discovery provides The Pattern Language (TPL), a tool where you can use patterns to describe applications and products specific to your environment, and enrich your discovered data. However, an important feature of BMC Discovery is that even before you can refine and expand your discovery search using TPL, you can use the out-of-the-box capabilities.
This section describes the discovery capabilities available to you at startup.
Software
The software that can be discovered by BMC Discovery increases with each monthly TKU release. This section contains information from BMC Discovery content reference, which details the applications that can be discovered with the latest TKU installed. Clicking one of the links in this section will take you directly to the content reference website.Patterns can help you identify the configuration of run time products in your data centers. Choose how you want to find the products of interest to you:

The discovered attributes per OS platform for Inferred nodes is shown in the Table below. An X denotes that the attribute can be discovered.
This list shows the attributes from various OS platforms that can be discovered by a default BMC Discovery version 20.02 system. This does not include patterns or a TKU.
Some of my attributes are missing!
Some attributes might not be discovered on a given OS in your environment due to privilege requirements, hardware and software configurations, customizations, firewall configurations, security policies, and so forth. Additional attributes might be discovered by patterns, whether TKU provided, or your own custom patterns.
Patterns are now used to discover processor information. The patterns will be updates as required, and delivered as part of monthly TKU release. For full details of the CPU information that can be determined, for each platform, for each processor information release, see Configipedia processor information.
