Setting up end users' job titles synchronization

As the BMC Helix Digital Workplace administrator, you can set up the synchronization of BMC Helix Digital Workplace and BMC Helix ITSM user profiles. As a result, end users can view and edit their job titles in both applications and keep their data up to date.

To set up the synchronization between BMC Helix Digital Workplace and BMC Helix ITSM 

Important

By default, the synchronization is disabled.

  1. In the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Admin console, go to Configuration > Application Features.
  2. Select the Use ITSM Job Title for user instead of DWP Job Title check box.
  3. Select the User Profile Data Editing check box.


    The automatic synchronization is enabled; end users can edit their job title in the BMC Helix Digital Workplace end user console.

How the synchronization works

The following table explains how the synchronization works between BMC Helix Digital Workplace and BMC Helix ITSM and describes what results the BMC Helix Digital Workplace administrator gets by enabling and disabling the synchronization-related options in the BMC Helix Digital Workplace Admin console:

  • The synchronization is on, and end users can see their job titles from BMC Helix ITSM in their BMC Helix Digital Workplace user profiles.
  • End users can edit their job titles in BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
  • The job titles that are edited in BMC Helix Digital Workplace are automatically saved to BMC Helix ITSM user profiles.

  • The synchronization is on, and end users can see their job titles from BMC Helix ITSM in their BMC Helix Digital Workplace user profiles.
  • End users cannot edit their job titles in BMC Helix Digital Workplace.

  • The synchronization is off, and end users can see their job titles from BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
  • End users can edit their job titles in BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
  • The job titles that are edited in BMC Helix Digital Workplace are not saved to BMC Helix ITSM user profiles.

  • The synchronization is off, and end users can see their job titles from BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
  • End users cannot edit their job titles in BMC Helix Digital Workplace.
