Creating virtual marketplace entitlements


As a service catalog administrator, internal service supplier, internal service supplier administrator, or asset manager, you create virtual marketplaces to associate services, bundles, and banners that appear in a BMC Digital Workplace user's catalog with users who can access them.

Before you begin

To create a virtual marketplace

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace, go to Services > Entitlements.
  2. Click New Virtual Marketplace.
  3. In the Virtual Marketplace Name field, enter a name.
  4. Click Create.

To rename or remove an existing virtual marketplace, select a virtual marketplace, and click icon-option.pngto open a menu with those options.

To add services, bundles, and banners to virtual marketplaces

In the Services & Banners section of the Edit Virtual Marketplace panel, you can add and remove services, bundles, and banners.

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace, go to Services > Entitlements.
  2. Open a virtual marketplace.
  3. To add services and bundles to the virtual marketplace:
    1. Click Add next to Catalog, and search for or filter services and bundles that you want to add.
    2. Select one or more services and bundles, and click Add.

  4. To add banners to the virtual marketplace:
    1. Click Add beside Banners.
    2. Select one or more banners, and click Add.

To display companies that do not have associated organizations in Action Request System

By default, when you associate a virtual marketplace with a company, only those companies which have organizations created for them in the CTM:People form of AR System are displayed. 

To display companies that do not have organizations, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Log in in to BMC Helix Digital Workplace Catalog:
  2. Click the Application Settings image2023-2-8_14-49-18.pngicon.
  3. In the Service Catalog section, enable the Display companies without organizations in Entitlements toggle.

To add all users to a virtual marketplace

You can add all users to a virtual marketplace by turning on the Everyone toggle key in the Edit Virtual Marketplace pane.

All users will have access to the services, banners, and bundles in this virtual marketplace.

To add individual users

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace, go to Services > Entitlements.
  2. Open a virtual marketplace.
  3. Next to Users, click Add.
  4. Search for or filter users that you want to add.

    Important

    Only users with Enabled profile status are available for search.

  5. Select one or more users, and click Add.

To add multiple users from dynamic filters by ITSM attributes

You can add users to a virtual marketplace by filtering them by the following fields from the CTM:People form:

Core fields

Other fields

  • Company
  • Organization
  • Department
  • Region
  • Site
  • Site Group
  • Cost Center
  • Support Organization
    In the Support Organization category, you can select a whole organization or individual groups. Members of this support group will be able to view and access services and bundles that are entitled to this support group.
  • Static fields:
    • Assignment Availability
    • Client Sensitivity
    • Client Type
    • License Type
    • Notification Availability
    • Support Staff
    • Unrestricted Access
    • VIP
  • Dynamically defined fields which are displayed only if the following conditions are met:
    • Customized fields (specific fields which do not exist in a standard CTM:People form)
    • Are not Core fields
    • Are selection type fields
    • Are not Display Only fields (Entry Type = Display)
    • Are visible in the UI.

 The relationship between People and Support Groups is stored in the Remedy ITSM CTM:Support Group People Assoc Join form. The list of Support Groups of a company is also retrieved from this form.

Filter names in BMC Digital Workplace Catalog correspond to fields in BMC Remedy ITSM CTM:People form. Filter lists display values dynamically generated from existing user profiles in BMC Remedy IT Service Management. 

To add multiple users from dynamic filters:

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace, go to Services > Entitlements.
  2. Open a virtual marketplace.
  3. Next to Attributes, click Add.
  4. To filter users by core fields:
    1. Click the ITSM Core tab, and expand the available categories as needed.
    2. Select the attributes that you want to assign, and click Save.

      The following illustration shows the ITSM core attributes that you can assign:

      Important

      ITSM Core attributes with no values are displayed as labels in the attributes tree.

  5. To filter users by other fields, perform the following steps:
    1. Click the Other Fields tab, and expand the available categories as needed.
    2. Select the attributes that you want to assign, and click Save.

To assign administrators for virtual marketplaces

Add administrative permissions to virtual marketplaces in the Managers section of the Edit Virtual Marketplace panel as follows:

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace, go to Services > Entitlements.
  2. Open a virtual marketplace.
  3. Under Managers, click Add to find administrators to add.
    The User Directory contains the list of users with the appropriate permissions to manage virtual marketplaces.
  4. Search for or filter users that you want to add.
  5. Select one or more users, and then click Add.
