Integrating with BMC TrueSight Operations Management

BMC TrueSight Operations Management (formerly named BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management) can provide information about service availability to  BMC Digital Workplace  users. If you enable the integration, services monitored by BMC TrueSight Operations Management are listed in  BMC Digital Workplace  and the availability status is updated by BMC TrueSight Operations Management.

To enable the integration between BMC TrueSight Operations Management and  BMC Digital Workplace

Add a cell named local in the BMC TrueSight Impact Integration Web Services server. BMC Digital Workplace  communicates with this cell, instead of the actual cell. BMC Truesight Integration Management server is a component of BMC TrueSight Operations Management, which contains the actual cell configuration. To configure the cell when the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server is operating in a standalone mode, perform the following steps:

  1.  In the BMC TrueSight Impact Integration Web Services server, define a cell named local:
    1. Navigate to the following directory:

      • (Windows) <installDirectory>\BMC Software\Impact Web Services\Tomcat\webapps\imws\WEB-INF\etc\

      • (Linux) <installDirectory>/bmc/ImpactWebServices/Tomcat/webapps/imws/WEB-INF/etc/
    2. Using a text editor, open the mcell.dir file and add the following line:

      cell local mc <trueSightInfrastructureManagementServer_hostName>:1828

Replace <trueSightInfrastructureManagementServer_hostName> with the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server host name. The cell name must be local.

  2. In the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server, ensure that a line referencing the actual cell name with which the BMC TrueSight Impact Integration Web Services server communicates is available:
    1. On the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server, navigate to the following directory:

      • (Windows)<installDirectory>\BMC Software\TrueSight\pw\server\etc\

      • (Linux) <installDirectory>/pw/server/etc/

    2. Using a text editor, open the mcell.dir file, and ensure that the following line is available:

      cell pncell_<trueSightInfrastructureManagementServer_hostName> mc <trueSightInfrastructureManagementServer_hostName>:1828

Here, <trueSightInfrastructureManagementServer_hostName> is the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server host name.

      Note

The host and port present in mcell.dir file on the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server should match the cell configured in BMC TrueSight Impact Integration Web Services server.

For information about configuring the cell when the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management server is operating in a high availability mode, see   To integrate MyIT with TrueSight Infrastructure Management when configured for high availability Open link in the BMC TrueSight Operations Management online documentation.
