To make the clients available

ClientOptions
Universal clientAnnounce the URL to the universal client:
https://DigitalWorkplaceServerName:port/dwp/app
Mobile apps
  • Make the mobile client applications available through a URL on your intranet (as described in this topic).
  • Place the application in your enterprise app store.
  • Push the application through your mobile device management platform, using your preferred tool.

Neither the Apple App Store nor the Google Play Store are involved in the process.

Note

BMC Digital Workplace supports the following AppConfig capabilities for Android (version 5.0 and above) and iOS (version 10.0 and above):

  • App Configuration: Implements managed app configurations. The MDM key is com.bmc.configuration.managed which will in turn accept either of the following key-value pairs (setting these will always override any other settings):
    • myit | server
    • myit | port
  • App Tunnel: Leverages per-app VPN functionality (typically available in commercial VPN solutions). No development is required.

To make the mobile BMC Digital Workplace  application available through a URL

Note

The following case is not applicable for App Store distribution scenarios.

After you install BMC Digital Workplace , host the mobile clients on a valid HTTPS server with a valid certificate authority (CA) certificate. Apple requires a valid HTTPS server with a valid CA certificate for distributing native iOS applications. You can use the BMC Digital Workplace  server for this purpose only if you configure it for HTTPS. Users can download mobile clients for Google Android and Apple iOS devices through the following web address:

https://digitalWorkplaceServerName:port/download/myit

Replace digitalWorkplaceServerName:port with the web address for your BMC Digital Workplace  or other HTTPS server on which you are hosting the mobile client.

The 32-bit Android mobile client can run on both 32-bit and 64-bit Android devices. For Android mobile app downloads, you might need to update your device settings to allow downloads from unknown sources.

Note

The following video shows an older version of BMC Digital Workplace. The previous product name was MyIT. Although there might be minor changes in the UI, the overall functionality remains the same.
