BMC Integration Service support and connector enhancements

Starting with 18.02.00, BMC Digital Workplace Advanced cloud and on-premises versions support BMC Integration Service.

BMC Integration Service includes out-of-the-box connectors for popular BMC and third-party products and services, which can be used alongside BMC Digital Workplace Catalog connectors. You can also configure multiple connections for the same connector. For example, you can create two different Remedy connections to connect to different servers, or you can create two different Active Directory connections to connect to different user domains. If a certain connector does not exist or does not fit your organization's needs, you can customize it or create a new one.

Customers that have BMC Digital Workplace Advanced and are current on their maintenance agreement are entitled to limited complimentary use of BMC Integration Service. Please create a support ticket to request use.

For more information about using BMC Integration Service with BMC Digital Workplace Catalog , see Integrating BMC Digital Workplace Catalog with BMC Integration Service. For more information on connector configuration, see Configuring service connectors.

BMC Chatbot support

Starting with 18.02.00,  BMC Digital Workplace Advanced supports BMC Chatbot, which brings the cognitive enterprise to life through the Service Catalog. BMC Chatbot allows users to find and request services through a conversational and personalized interface. Expanding on a consumer-like experience, employees get the immediate responses they expect interacting with an intelligent service, while IT support teams are freed up to do more complex work.

BMC Chatbot integration with  BMC Digital Workplace Catalog delivers:

  • Consumer-like experiences tailored to platforms employees are already using
  • Self-service powered by context aware devices and predictive analytics
  • Increased flexibility while accessing relevant information and submitting service requests

For more information, see BMC Chatbot documentation.

Service actions support for enhanced services

In addition to predefined Day 2 actions shipped with some of the available BMC Digital Workplace Catalog connectors, enhanced catalog services now can be associated with custom service actions.

BMC Digital Workplace Catalog  administrators or internal service suppliers create service actions to associate them with services belonging to the enhanced catalog.

Service actions are light services that supplement existing services. They provide an easy way for end users to interact with their completed services. Service actions are available for end users on their My Stuff page in  BMC Digital Workplace when a service that is associated with this action is requested and completed. By using service actions, end users can request procedures that are not available as separate services in the catalog. For example, if end users need computer upgrade, they can request this procedure as an action of previously completed Order Computer request.

For information how service actions are created, see Managing service actions. For information how service actions are associated with services, see Associating a service with service actions.

New service agent role in BMC Digital Workplace Catalog

A new role for service agents is available which lets them view requests. The service request report is enhanced with additional details. For information about the service agent role, see Overview of user accounts and groups for BMC Digital Workplace Catalog.

Service health enhancements

In version 18.02.00, the Health Check tool has been enhanced with the following options:

  • SMTP configuration and connection—shows the status of SMTP (passed, failed, unknown)

  • Notifications on service request approvals enabled—shows whether notifications on approvals are enabled or disabled
  • Notification on service request comments enabled —shows whether notifications on comments are enabled or disabled
  • Log level—shows the current log level (trace, debug, info, error)

For more information, see Identifying connectivity and configuration issues by running health checks.

Nuance Dragon support

BMC Digital Workplace Catalog now supports Nuance Dragon 15, a popular speech recognition software. Dragon users can provide voice inputs for question and answer fields, radio buttons, and checkboxes in Catalog pages.

For information on configuring the integration with BMC Integration Service, see Integrating BMC Digital Workplace Catalog with BMC Integration Service.
