Including properties in ad hoc reports

You specify that object properties be transferred from the BMC Server Automation database to the reports data warehouse by using the Used in reports flag in the BMC Server Automation property dictionary.

Each property definition in the dictionary includes the Used in reports flag. The extract, transform, and load (ETL) process uses this setting to determine which properties to transfer to the reports data warehouse.

By default, all built-in properties have the Used in reports flag set. When you add a property to the dictionary, the Used in reports flag is off by default. You can turn on the flag to include the new property in reports. The next time the ETL process synchronizes the  model Open link , it includes any new properties with the flag turned on.

If you want to remove a property from reports, you can turn the flag off.

Notes

  • If one of your reports includes a property that is used in multiple BMC Server Automation sites and you delete the property name from one of the sites, the report will not run properly.
  • The number of reports data warehouse properties is limited to 1,000 for each of the following object types: role, user, job, template, server, and component.
  • If the name of the property exceeds 30 characters, the system_property  table in the BDSSA_DW database must be updated to set EnableLongPropertyName to be loaded.

For information about the property dictionary, see Managing properties using the Property Dictionary in the BMC Server Automation documentation.
