Verifying upgraded products

After you upgrade, perform the procedures in this topic to ensure that the products in the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution are working.

To verify the BMC Server Automation upgrade

If you upgraded BMC Server Automation, perform the following steps to verify that you can log on to the BMC Remedy AR System & IT Service Management Suite host.

  1. Log on to the BMC Server Automation host.
  2. Open the BMC Server Automation Console.
    • (Windows) From the Start menu, select Programs > BMC Software > BladeLogic Server Automation Suite > Server Automation ConsolereleaseNumber.
    • (UNIX) From the directory where BMC Server Automation is installed (for example, /opt/bmc/BladeLogic/CM/rcp), enter ./rcp/launcher.
  3. From the Configuration menu, select Atrium Integration > Configuration.
  4. Verify that the port number and user credentials for the BMC Remedy AR System & IT Service Management Suite host are correct.
  5. Click Test Connection to verify the connection.
  6. If the connection was successful, click Save. Otherwise, troubleshoot the connection issues on the BMC Remedy AR System & IT Service Management Suite host and retest the connection.

To verify the BMC Atrium Orchestrator upgrade

If you upgraded BMC Atrium Orchestrator, perform the following verification steps:

  1. Access Access Manager. 
    1. In a web browser, launch Access Manager by using the following format to type the URL: http://<AOhostname>:9090/baoam
    2. Log on to Access Manager (the default credentials are admin/admin123). 
  2. Access Repository Manager.
    1. In a web browser, launch Repository Manager by using the following format to type the URL: http://<REPOOhostname>:9090/baorepo
    2. Log on to Repository Manager (the default credentials are admin/admin123). 
  3. Access Grid Manager. 
    1. In a web browser, launch Grid Manager by using the following format to type the URL: http://<GRIDhostname>:9090/baocdp
    2. Log on to Grid Manager (the default credentials are admin/admin123). 

To verify the AR System upgrade

If you upgraded the AR System server, perform the following verification steps:

  1. Launch ARSystemMaintenanceTool.
    • (Windows) Go to the <ARSystemServerInstallDir>\arsystem folder, and run the ARSystemMaintenanceTool.cmd file.
    • (UNIX) Go to the <ARSystemServerInstallDir>/arsystem directory and run the ./ARSystemMaintenanceTool.sh file.
  2. Click the Health Check tab.
  3. On the Welcome panel, click Next.
  4. Specify the AR System Server administrator name, password, TCP port number, and name alias.
  5. Click Next.
    The installation verification process begins and a progress window is displayed. After the verification is complete, the Health Check Summary page appears. This page lists the check passed or check failed messages, based on the verification. If the health check returns any failed messages, contact BMC Customer Support.
  6. Close the BMC Remedy AR System Maintenance Tool. 

To verify the Enterprise Mid Tier or SSI Mid Tier upgrades

If you upgraded the Enterprise Mid Tier or SSI Mid Tier, perform the following verification steps:

  1. Launch a web browser and specify the Enterprise Mid Tier or SSI Mid Tier URL (the host name where the mid tier with web server is installed) in the address field.
    For example:
    http://<MidTierhostname>:8080/arsys 
  2. Verify that the mid tier logon page is displayed.
  3. Log on as the Demo user and verify that you are able to connect to the AR System server.

To verify the BMC Atrium Core - Web Registry upgrade

To verify that BMC Atrium Core - Web Registry is successfully upgraded, launch a web browser and verify that you are able to access the following URLs:

  • http://<AtriumWebRegistryHost>:8080/cmdbws/server/cmdbws.wsdl
    The default HTTP port is 8080. 
  • https://<AtriumWebRegistryHost>:7776/cmdbws/server/cmdbws.wsdl
    The default HTTPS port is 7776.   

To verify the BMC Network Automation upgrade

To verify that BMC Network Automation is successfully upgraded:

  1. launch a web browser.
  2. Enter the BMC Network Automation URL.
    https://<bnaServer>:11443/bca-networks
    The default port is 11443. 
  3. Log on using the sysadmin user name and sysadmin password.
    After you successfully log in the first time, you will be required to change the password.

To verify the Cloud Database Extensions upgrade

To verify that Cloud Database Extensions is successfully upgraded:

  1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:
    http://<hostName>:8080/arsys/forms/<serverName>/SHARE:Application_Properties
    Within the URL:
    • <hostName> represents the fully qualified name of the mid tier server.
    • <serverName> represents the name of the server that hosts Cloud Database.
  2. Log on with the default user name, Demo, which does not require a password.
  3. Click New Search.
  4. Fill in the following fields:
    • Property Name: Enter Name.
    • Property Value: Enter BMC.
  5. Click Search.
    A list of properties that match the search criteria is displayed.
  6. Verify that the following entries appear in the search results:

    Name

    Identifier

    BMC Cloud Service Management - Public Schema Extension

    Note: This entry does not appear in Compact Deployment or Single VM RDS.

  7. If the form does not contain the required entries, contact BMC Customer Support.

To verify the Platform Manager upgrade

To verify that Platform Manager is successfully upgraded:

  1. Launch a web browser.
  2. Enter the Platform Manager URL:
    https://PlatformManagerServer:9443/csm
    The default HTTPS port is 9443. You should see the following message:
     

To verify the Cloud Portal AR Extensions upgrade

To verify that Cloud Portal AR Extensions is successfully upgraded:

  1. In a web browser, enter the following URL: http://hostName:8080/arsys/forms/serverName/SHARE:Application_Properties
    • hostName represents the fully qualified name of the mid tier server.
    • serverName represents the name of the enterprise AR System server.
  2. Log on with the default user name, Demo, which does not require a password.
  3. Click New Search.
  4. Populate the following fields:
    • Property Name: Enter Name.
    • Property Value: Enter BMC.
  5. Click Search.
    The matching entries are displayed, as shown in the following figure:

     

    A product entry might appear multiple times if you have installed multiple versions of the same product installed in your environment.

  6. Verify that the following entries appear in the SHARE:Application_Properties form:
    • BMC Cloud Service Management - Public Schema Extension
    • BMC Cloud Management Foundation
    • BMC Cloud Management Administrator

    • BMC Cloud Management User

    • BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management

  7. If the form does not contain the required entries, contact BMC Support.

To verify the CLM Self-Check Monitor upgrade

To verify that CLM Self-Check Monitor is successfully upgraded:

  1. Launch a web browser.
  2. In a browser, enter the CLM Self-Check Monitor URL.
    https://SelfChecker:8443
  3. If you installed using the CLM Self-Check Monitor with the existing HTTPS self-signed certificate, your connection is initially distrusted in the browser. Add and confirm the site exception.
  4. Verify that the Apache Tomcat 7 welcome page appears.  
  5. Enter the full Self-Checker URL.
    For example:
    https://SelfChecker:8443/health

To verify the Cloud Portal Web Application upgrade

To verify that Cloud Portal Web is successfully upgraded:

  1. Launch a web browser.
  2. Enter the Cloud Portal Web URL.
    https://clmui:8443
  3. If you installed using the Cloud Portal Web Application with the existing HTTPS self-signed certificate, your connection is initially distrusted in the browser. Add and confirm the site exception.
  4. Verify that the Apache Tomcat 7 welcome page appears.
  5. Enter the full Cloud Portal Web Application URL.
    For example:
    https://clm-aus-005289:8443/clmui 

To verify the Cloud Portal upgrade

Perform the following steps to verify that you can access and submit requests in the Cloud Portal.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Portal host.
  2. Select Application > BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management > BMC Cloud Management Administration Console.
  3. On the left menu bar, click Workspace and select Service Instances.
  4. Verify that the requests that you submitted in version 3.x or 4.x are now available.
  5. Submit a new request to provision a VM and make sure that it works.
