Managing change policy mappings

Notice

Support for integrating BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management with BMC Remedy OnDemand has been discontinued and will be removed fully in the next service pack release planned in 2018. BMC is no longer providing support for this integration.

Change policies are created automatically when you install BMC IT Service Management with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management and configure BMC Change Management with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management. If necessary, you can make changes to the mapping between change policies and templates.

Note

If you apply a template mapping to the Start Server, Stop Server, and Shutdown Server operations, you should also apply a template mapping (at a minimum, apply Cloud Change - Audit Only) to the Start Service, Stop Service, Shutdown Service, and Decommission Service operations. This way, a change request is created for each service that uses the associated operation (and a change request is not created for every server, which could cause confusion).

Editing default change template mappings

You can use non-default templates with the default Change policies.

  1. Open the Configuration Options workspace in the Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console, and click the ITSM Configuration tab.
The Change Policy – Template Mapping section appears at the bottom of the window.

  2. Under the Change Policy - Template Mapping section, select a Change policy template mapping and click the Edit icon to open the Change Template Mapping dialog box.

  3. Complete the fields.
    • Change Policy Name - The Change policy name that is reflected in the requestable offering to which the template is mapped.
    • Change Template Search - If this option is selected, the template is retrieved from the Corporate ITSM server. All the change templates with “Template Category Tier 1” defined as “Cloud Change Lifecycle” are retrieved from Corporate ITSM (or BMC Remedy OnDemand or BMC Remedyforce).
    • Change Template Name - This field is available if the Change Template Search option is selected. From the list, you can select a change template retrieved from Corporate ITSM (as defined in the previous bullet).
    • Template ID - The change template instance ID on Corporate ITSM (or BMC Remedy OnDemand or BMC Remedyforce). You can change the ID if the Change Template Search option is cleared.
  4. Click Save.

Configuring change integration for operator actions

You can add, edit, and delete the template mapping for operator actions related to a service offering instance or a compute container.

  1. Open the Configuration Options workspace in the Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console, and click the ITSM Configuration tab.
The Operator Action – Template Mapping section appears at the bottom of the window.

  2. To add a template mapping for a specific operator action, click the Add icon to open the Change Template Mapping dialog box.

  3. Complete the fields.
    • Operator Action Name - Select the operator action you want to enable. Supported actions are:
      • Decommission Service
      • Extend Service
      • Shutdown Server
      • Shutdown Service
      • Start Server
      • Start Service
      • Stop Server
      • Stop Service
    • Change Template Search - If you want to retrieve the template from the Corporate ITSM server, select this option. All the change templates with “Template Category Tier 1” defined as “Cloud Change Lifecycle” are retrieved from Corporate ITSM (or BMC Remedy OnDemand or BMC Remedyforce).
    • Change Template Name - If you selected the Change Template Search option, select the change template, which is retrieved from Corporate ITSM (as defined in the previous bullet).
    • Template ID - To configure the custom change template, enter the change template instance ID retrieved from the Corporate ITSM server (or BMC Remedy OnDemand or BMC Remedyforce). You can enter the ID manually if the Change Template Search option is cleared.
  4. Click Save.
