Configure tenants and tenant users

In BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, a tenant is a group of users who need access to the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – My Cloud Services Console to request services from the cloud. A tenant can be any group of users that needs to isolate its data and services from other groups. The use of tenants in the cloud allows a company or service provider to segregate groups in the cloud and to control the visibility and permissions for offerings in the Service Catalog that are available to tenant users.

Earlier, you could only create tenants in the Application Administration Console. In this release, you can now create tenant companies from the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – Administration Console.

This topic contains the following sections:

To create tenants

The use of tenants in the cloud allows a company or service provider to both segregate groups in the cloud and to control the visibility and permissions for offerings in the Service Catalog that are available to tenant users. Tenants have two types of users:

  • Cloud end users can use the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management My Cloud Services Console to request services hosted in the portion of the cloud assigned to the tenant company. Cloud end users can see only their own services in the BMC My Cloud Services Console.
  • Cloud organization administrators can use the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management My Cloud Services Console to see and manipulate any and all services created by cloud end users of their own company.

To create tenants:

  1. From the Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu and select Tenants.
  2. In the Tenant Management pane, click Create or import tenant
  3. In the Add Tenant dialog box, enter the requested information.
