Getting started with the RHEL 6.2 ZipKit

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is a Linux-based operating system developed by Red Hat and targeted toward the commercial market. This operating system also provides NTP and TFTP services. Network Time Protocol (NTP) is a networking protocol for clock synchronization between computer systems over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks and Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) is a mechanism to transfer files from one device to another. It is typically used by network administrator to copy configuration file, log file and firmware to/from networking devices.

Where to download the ZipKit

  • Download the RHEL 6.2 ZipKit (CLM 4.5-NTP Server Client and TFTP Server on Rhel 6.2.eZ) from BMC Communities.
  • Download the following software files from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 64 bit media for TFTP.
Software SequenceSoftware nameDescription
1xinetd-2.3.14-17.el5.x86_64.rpmThese software files are required for TFTP.
2tftp-server-0.49-2.x86_64.rpm
3tftp-0.49-2.x86_64.rpm

NTP package is available in RHEL 6.2 64-bit DVD media. Also, this will be installed automatically with the Standard Template Creation for RHEL 6.2 64-bit. NSH script would configure the NTP server and client in your environment. Also, TFTP package software will be installed in the sequence given above. Ensure that you will add these software packages with respective BLPackages in BMC Server Automation.
