Installation order and product dependencies

BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary

Installs modified version of BMC Remedy ITSM Suite Preconfigured Stack that installs BMC Remedy AR System server, BMC Mid Tier, BMC Atrium Core CMDB with related products, and BMC Server Request Management.

After installation, modify ar.conf/ar.cfg (by default, located in<AR_Install_Dir>/conf) by setting CMDB-Inline-Normalization to F.

AR System Mid Tier

AR System Mid Tier is already installed with BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary for all deployment types. To improve performance for the small, medium, and large deployments, install AR System Mid Tier on a separate host.

Note: For small, medium, and large deployment types, the mid tier service is stopped by default after installation.

AR System Mid Tier depends upon the BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database -Primary.

Atrium Core - Web Registry Components

To avoid installation issues with this product, do not install it on the same hosts as BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary or BMC Remedy Mid Tier.

(Optional) BMC Server Automation - File Server

To improve performance, install the file server on a separate host. This product installation has no dependencies.

Note: If the file server is a remote file server (not installed on the same host as the BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console), install it before you install BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console.

BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console

Install the primary application server and Automation Console. This installation creates two application instances: one configuration server and one job server. This product depends on BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary. If you plan to install BMC Server Automation - File Server on a separate host, install it before installing BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console.

Note: Ensure that you use the host name when installing BMC Server Automation instead of using the fully qualified domain name (FQDN). Otherwise, the domain name is truncated due to the character limit.

(Optional) BMC Server Automation - Multiple App Server (MAS)

Install this product on secondary computer to provide multiple Application Server (MAS) support. This installation creates two application instances: one configuration server and one job server. This product installation is required only in a MAS environment.  You must install BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console before BMC Server Automation - MAS.

Note: Ensure that you use the host name when installing BMC Server Automation instead of using the fully qualified domain name (FQDN). Otherwise, the domain name is truncated due to the character limit.

Atrium Orchestrator - Configuration Distribution Peer

BMC Atrium Orchestrator includes:

• BMC Atrium Orchestrator Server
• (Optional) BMC Atrium Orchestrator - Configuration Distribution Peer (high availability, or HA) 

Before you install BMC Atrium Orchestrator Server, install the following products:

• BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary
• BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console

Before you install BMC Atrium Orchestrator - Configuration Distribution Peer (HA), install BMC Atrium Orchestrator Server.

Note: Install both products in the same session.

If your environment requires scalability, install BMC Atrium Orchestrator - Configuration Distribution Peer (HA) on small, medium, and large deployment types.

Before you install BMC Atrium Orchestrator Server, install the following products:

• BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary
• BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console

Before you install BMC Atrium Orchestrator - Configuration Distribution Peer (HA), install BMC Atrium Orchestrator Server.

Note: Install both products in the same session.

BMC Network Automation

Before you install BMC Network Automation, install the following products:

• BMC Atrium Core Web Registry Components
• BMC Atrium Orchestrator Server

Cloud Database Extensions

Install this product on the same computer where you installed BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary.

Cloud Database Extensions depends upon BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary.

Cloud Platform Manager

Before you install Cloud Platform Manager, install the following products:

• BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary
• BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console
• BMC Network Automation
• Cloud Database Extensions
• BMC Atrium Orchestrator Server

Cloud Portal AR Extensions

Before you install Cloud Portal AR Extensions - Primary, install the following products:

• BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary
• BMC Atrium Orchestrator Server
• Cloud Platform Manager

(Optional) BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Secondary

Install BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Secondary for small, medium, or large deployments only if you need failover or high-availability systems for performance reasons.

Before you install BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Secondary, install the following products:

• BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary
• Cloud Portal AR System Extensions 

After installation, modify ar.conf/ar.cfg (by default, located in<AR_Install_Dir>/conf) by setting CMDB-Inline-Normalization to F.

Note: The BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary host is your administrative server.

(Optional) Cloud Portal AR Extensions - Secondary

Install Cloud Portal AR Extensions - Secondary on the same host as BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Secondary.

Before you install Cloud Portal AR Extensions - Secondary, install the following products:

• Cloud Portal AR Extensions - Primary 
• BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Secondary

(Optional) PXE Server

This product installation is required for physical and virtual bare-metal provisioning. BMC recommends that you install BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console and PXE Server on separate hosts to manage resources appropriately. Therefore, the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Installer prevents you from installing both products on the same host.

Before you install PXE Server, install BMC Server Automation - App Server & Console

(Optional) BMC Server Automation - Advanced Repeater

Install the Advanced Repeater for small, medium, or large deployments only if you need high-availability for performance reasons. 

This product installation has no dependencies.

(Optional) BMC Network Automation - Device Agent

Install the Device Agent for small, medium, or large deployments only if you need high-availability for performance reasons. 

This product installation has no dependencies.
