Dashboard

Displays the Cloud Cost Dashboard with a current snapshot of your environment.

BMC Helix Cloud Cost provides a set of connectors that you can use for collecting data from your public cloud providers and your on-premises environment. After you configure and run the connectors, the cost details of the configured cloud provider are displayed in a new tab on the Dashboard. In case on an on-premise connector, the name of the user is displayed as the tab name.

On each tab, you can see:

  • Name of the cloud provider
  • Cost of resources
  • An upward or downward trend arrow with the percent increase or decrease in the cost of the resources
  • A trendline displaying changes in the cost of the resources over time.

The Total Cost tab displays the total cost incurred for the account under consideration. It also shows the percentage increase or decrease in the incurred cost if data for earlier month is available.

The green arrowgreen_arrow.pngindicates a decreased trend along with the percent decrease for the cost and resources. The redred_arrow.pngarrow indicates an increased trend along with the percent increase for the cost and resources.

The decimals are rounded off to the first digit after the decimal point and you can hover over them for more precise values.

If the data for earlier months is unavailable, the There is no data available for the previous month to calculate the trend value message is displayed.

Each cloud provider tab provides information about the Summary, Resource Pools, Accounts, Services, and resource-level cost of the accounts.

    Budget

Assign a budget for the resource pool or business service.

    1. To assign the budget to the selected resource pool or business service, select Enable Budget.
    2. Select a period for the budget cycle. The following values are available:
      1. Quarterly
      2. Monthly
    3. Specify the budget values.
When you modify the defined budget cycle, the budget values for the resource pools or business services are automatically adjusted. For example, consider that the budget for a resource pool with a monthly budget cycle is $100. When you change the budget cycle from Monthly to Quarterly, the budget value is automatically updated to $300. BMC recommends that after you modify the defined budget cycle, you must review the budget values for all the resource pools.
    4. Configure the budget thresholds so that you can decide whether a resource pool or business service is underspending, overspending, or in budget.
      1. Underspenders: Specify the threshold value in percentage. If the projected cost percentages for a resource pool or business service is less than this value, it is classified as Underspender.
      2. Overspenders: Specify the threshold value in percentage. If the projected cost percentages for a resource pool or business service is greater than this value, it is classified as Overspender.
