Configuring discount settings

As a Tenant Admin user, you can offer discounts to customers based on the original catalog cost of the cloud resources. BMC Helix Cloud Cost considers the discounts received from the cloud providers to calculate the original cost of the resource; and then uses this cost to offer discounts to the customers.

For example, Paul, the MSP user, receives a resource for $70 at a 30% discount rate from the cloud provider. As per the customer agreement, Paul wants to offer a discount of 10% on the original cost of this resource. When Paul configures these discount details for a specific customer on the Configuration page, the customer will see the cost of the resource as $90 (10% discount of the original cost $100). Paul can create such multiple discount configurations and provide a different discount to each customer.

You can assign discounts to your organizations according to the provider and the services used by the customer. To configure discounts, perform the following tasks:

  1. Log on to BMC Helix Cloud Cost.
  2. Click Configure > Configurations.
  3. In Discount Settings, click Add New.
  4. On the Add New Discount page, define the discount that you want to offer.
    1. Select an organization to which you want to offer discount.
    2. Select the service provider to which you want to offer the discount.
    3. Select the services to which you want to offer the discount. The configured discount is applied to all the services if no service is selected or if all the services are selected.
    4. To configure specific discounts for the services, select the service, configure the received and given discount, and save the configuration.

      Example
      Configuration 1:
      • Organization: Pepsi
      • Service Provider: Amazon Web Services
      • Services selected: None
      • Discount received: 20%
      • Discount offered: 8%
      Configuration 2:
      • Organization: Pepsi
      • Service Provider: Amazon Web Services
      • Services selected: Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon DynamoDB
      • Discount received: 20%
      • Discount offered: 12%

For Pepsi organization, the discount for Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon DynamoDB services will be calculated with 12% discount; whereas the discount of all other services will be calculated with 8% discount.

    5. Configure the discounts.

      1. Discount ReceivedEnter the discount percentage received from the service provider.

      2. Discount/MarkupEnter the discount or markup percentage that you want to provide to the selected organization.

        • Discount is offered on the catalog price of the resource defined by the cloud provider. If you want to provide a discount on the catalog price of the service provider, enter a positive value. A discount/markup of 10% will decrease the cost by 10%.

        • Markup is added on the catalog price of the resource defined by the cloud provider. If you want a markup (with respect to service or maintenance charges) on the catalog price of the service provider, enter a negative value. A discount/markup of -10% will increase the cost by 10%.

    6. Click Add
The newly added discount or markup information is displayed in Discount Settings.

As a Tenant Admin user, you can view the original cost of the resources, the effective discount percentage, and the discounted cost on the Dashboard in the Summary tab. A non-tenant admin user will see the discounted cost as the total cost.
