TrueSight Capacity Optimizer for Serverless Assets license add-on
A Serverless Asset is any type of cloud computing service (private, public, hybrid) that does not require access to underlying hardware assets such as servers. Examples of Serverless Assets include Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon S3, Amazon Lambda, Amazon Relational Database Service, Azure Blobs, containers, Pods, Pod Workloads, and so on.
A Serverless Assets license is required to view information on Serverless Assets monitored, managed, or discovered by TrueSight Capacity Optimization. Regardless of how you import the data into the product database, this license is required if the serverless assets data is imported into the product.
As some serverless assets can run more than one instances, such as the number of Pod Instances, the asset instance count might be higher than the assets. Therefore, the license report considers the count of the number of Serverless Asset instances and not the Serverless Asset.
The number of licensed entity types for the serverless license reporting is determined in the following phases:
- Maximum value of daily counts for the licensed entity types is created with an activity of the last 2 days.
- Daily values are used to build a monthly average.
- Maximum value of the past 12 months is used to license the serverless entity types.
For the Kubernetes - Pod, PCF - Application, Kubernetes - Pod Workload entity types, this count is obtained by using the values reported by the APP_INSTANCES, INSTANCE_COUNT, and KPOD_NUM metrics.
