Backing up and restoring centralized configuration settings
You can maintain copies of your centralized configuration data and restore any copy to revert to old customized settings at any time. The backup functionality copies all the centralized configuration data. You cannot create a component-specific or setting-specific backup.
When you create a backup, the data is backed up in the following forms:
- AR System Configuration Component_Backup
- AR System Configuration Component-Setting Mapping_Backup
- AR System Configuration Setting_Backup
To create a backup
- In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration Backups.
- In the AR System Configuration Backup Management form, in the Backup Name field, enter a name for the backup.
- Click Backup.
If you observer the ARERR 298 error, on the Server Information form, increase the default value set for Maximum Filters for an Operation. For more information, see Setting performance and security options.
To restore a selected backup
- In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration Backups.
- In the AR System Configuration Backup Management form, from the Available Backups section, select the required backup, and click Restore Selected Backup.
When you restore a selected backup, it replaces all the current configuration settings with the settings from the backup.
To delete a selected backup
- In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration Backups.
- In the AR System Configuration Backup Management form, from the Available Backups section, select the required backup, and click Delete SelectedBackup.
Important
The backup is not restored if there is a version mismatch. For example, the backup is not restored if you try to restore backup for the version other than 18.05.
