PATROL Agent configuration variables

The following configuration variables are set in the PATROL Agent by PATROL for Amazon EC2. You can use either the pconfig utility or PATROL Configuration Manager to manage them.

Enables the collector debug for the Knowledge Module (KM).

Valid values:

  • 1:OFF
  • 2:ALL
  • 3:FINE
  • 4:FINER
  • 5:FINEST
  • 6:INFO
  • 7:SEVERE
  • 8:WARNING
    For example,
    !"/AWS/collDbg" = { REPLACE = "5:FINEST"}

/AWS/kmDbg

"/AWS/kmDbg" =
{ REPLACE ="<input>KMDBG</input>" }

Enables debug for the KM.

Valid values: 2, 4, 6

  • 2 = Request Debug
  • 4 = Response Debug
  • 6 = both
    For example,
    !"/AWS/kmDbg" = { REPLACE = “6”}

/AWS/javaOpts

"/AWS/javaOpts" =
{ REPLACE = "<input>JAVA_OPTIONS</input>" }

Sets java options.

For example,

  • "/AWS/javaOpts" = { REPLACE = "-Xmx1024M"}
    In this example, -Xmx1024M sets the java max heap size to 1024 MB.
  • "/AWS/javaOpts" = { REPLACE = "-Xms256M -Xmx300M"}
    In this example, -Xms256M sets the initial java heap size to 256 MB and java max heap size to 300
    MB.
    Multiple arguments should be separated with a space.

/AWS/acct_name/
displayName

"/AWS/<input>AWS_ACCOUNT_NAME
</input>/displayName" =
{ REPLACE = "<input>USERNAME</input>" }

Displays the account label of an Amazon Web Services account on PATROL Console.

/AWS/acct_name/
PerfStatistics

"/AWS/<input>AWS_ACCOUNT_NAME
</input>/PerfStatistics" =
{ REPLACE ="<input>STAT</input>" }

Collects statistic name to collect performance data for
a given Amazon Web Services account.

Default value: Average.

Valid values: Average, Maximum, Minimum, and
Sum

/SecureStore/AWS/
acct_name/AccessKey

"/AWS/<input>AWS_ACCOUNT_NAME
</input>/AccessKey" =
{ REPLACE ="<input>ACCESSKEY</input>" }

Stores the Access Key for an Amazon Web Services account that you want to configure.

Use this variable when using PATROL Agent version
earlier than 3.9.

This variable sets the Access Key of the Amazon Web Services account that you want to monitor.

/SecureStore/AWS/
acct_name/SecretKey

"/AWS/<input>AWS_ACCOUNT_NAME
</input>/SecretKey" =
{ REPLACE="<input>SECRETKEY</input>" }

Stores the Secret Key for an Amazon Web Services account that you want to configure.

Use this variable when using PATROL Agent version
earlier than 3.9.

This variable sets the Secret Key of the Amazon Web Services account that you want to monitor.

/AWS/<acct_label>
/AdvancemonitoringCategories

"/AWS/<input>AWS_ACCOUNT_NAME
</input>/AdvancemonitoringCategories" =
{ REPLACE = "<input>CATEGORIES</input>" }

Enables monitoring of the following Amazon web Services:

  • Amazon Simple Notification Service
  • Amazon Simple Queue Service
  • Amazon ElastiCache
    Valid values: AWS_SNS, AWS_SQS, and AWS_ECC

    Multiple values must be separated by entering them on a new line.

/AWS/java

"/AWS/java" =
{ REPLACE = "<input>JAVA_HOME</input>"}

Sets the JAVA_HOME path if you want to use any other JRE (Java Runtime Environment) apart from what is shipped with the KM.

/AWS/dir_location

none

Sets the directory path for storing the KM debug output appearing in the System Output Window.
