Latest CentOS 7 operating system upgrade

The latest BMC Discovery CentOS 7 OS upgrade, published on 2 July 2025, includes all applicable CentOS 7 updates up to 27 June 2025.

Upgrading to BMC Discovery 23.3 and later

This OSU is not compatible with upgrades to BMC Discovery 23.3 and later, which use Oracle Linux 9 upgrade packages versioned 006 and earlier. If you install this OSU, and subsequently upgrade to BMC Discovery 23.3 and later, you must use the Oracle Linux 9 upgrade packages versioned 007.
The current upgrade package is: Discovery_OS_Upgrade_CentOSRHEL7_OL9_v007.nnnnnn.tgz. On EPD, the upgrade package is labelled BMC Discovery Conversion CentOS/RHEL to OL9.
If you attempt to upgrade using an earlier package, the upgrade is blocked, and the following message is logged:
FATAL: BMC Discovery OL9 upgrade package of at least v007 required.
If you apply this OSU, you must only install the _v007 version (or later) of the upgrade package.

This BMC Discovery CentOS 7 OS upgrade includes all applicable CentOS 7 updates to mitigate an issue in OpenSSH (CVE-2023-38408).
"The PKCS#11 feature in ssh-agent in OpenSSH before 9.3p2 has an insufficiently trustworthy search path, leading to remote code execution if an agent is forwarded to an attacker-controlled system. (Code in /usr/lib is not necessarily safe for loading into ssh-agent.) Note: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2016-10009."

Information

When you upgrade to this OSU, if your link.conf file contains errors, the upgrade will fail its pre-upgrade checks with a message stating, Upgrade check failed: The OS upgrade script did not recognize the "--managed-upgrade-checks" option, and will proceed no further. You must correct the errors and run the OS upgrade again.
The link.conf file is formatted with entries like:

The most common errors are missing or unbalanced double quotes.

The OS upgrade supports the installed BMC Discovery (64-bit architecture) virtual appliances on CentOS 7. The following file is available from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) site for 64-bit architecture:

  • ADDM_OS_Upgrade_CentOS_64_7.25.05.29_1942_ga.sh.gz
