Dynamic Service Modeling configuration settings
The DSM section contains the configurations for the Dynamic Service Modeling (DSM) plug-in logs that can be used for troubleshooting.
If you are in a server group environment, select the required AR System server from the Select Server drop-down list. If you have a stand-alone environment, the required server name is automatically displayed.
Parameter | Description | Default Value | Setting in the AR Configuration file |
---|---|---|---|
Maximum Number Of Log Files for API | The maximum number of backup files that the system generates when the log file size exceeds the limit specified in the Maximum Log File Size. | 10 | DSM_MaxBackupIndex |
Logging Level | Defines the type of information that is saved in the log file. | Info | DSM_level |
Log File Name for API | Specifies the log file name for DSM. | C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\ARServer\Db/dsm.log | |
Maximum Log File Size for API | Specifies the maximum size of the log file for API. When the log file reaches the file size limit, it is renamed and a new log file is created. The older files are not automatically deleted. | 5 MB | DSM_MaxFileSize |
Conversion Pattern | Generates your logging information in a particular format based on a pattern that you set. | %d %-5p [%t] %C (%F:%L) - %m%n | DSM_ConversionPattern |
DSM Relationship Direction (Available only for fresh installation) | Changes the direction of the BMC Dependency relationship between a service CI and an infrastructure CI. For example, Helpdesk is a service that is dependent on the computer systems that have the service management application installed. To relate the Helpdesk business service to all the relevant computer systems, select the DSM Relationship Direction check-box and create a DSM query. When the query runs, the BMC_Dependency relationship will show that the Helpdesk service is dependent on the computer systems. Changing this option does not affect the existing service models. However, if you want the change to be reflected in the existing service models, you must delete the existing dependency relationship, and run the DSM query. This parameter has the following options: Selected: The service is dependent on the infrastructure. Cleared: The infrastructure is dependent on the service. | Check-box is cleared | NA |
