Reinitializing events in the Presentation Server

When you modify an existing custom event class definition in the Infrastructure Management server, you need to reinitialize the events on the Presentation Server so that it displays the latest modified events data from the connected Infrastructure Management server.

Note

The tssh event reinitialize command is supported only if you apply the Fix Pack 3 (11.0.00.003) on TrueSight Presentation Server 11.0.

You can run the tssh event reinitialize command on the Presentation Server to reinitialize the events data. When you run this command, latest events data as per the modified class definition is reloaded into the Presentation Server.

When you run the tssh event reinitialize command, the command restarts the Presentation Server automatically.

The following sections explain how to run the tssh event reinitialize command:

To reinitialize the events on a standalone Presentation Server deployment

Do the following:

  1. Log in to the TrueSight console, and select Administration > Components. Ensure that all the connected Infrastructure Management servers are up and running before you run the tssh event reinitialize command.

NoteIf you run the tssh event reinitialize command when the Infrastructure Management servers are not up and running, the events are not reinitialized.

  2. Log in to the host computer running the Presentation Server.
  3. Run the tssh server status command to ensure that the Presentation Server database is up and running. If the database service is not running, use the tssh server start command to restart the database.
  4. From the command prompt, go to the <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\bin directory location.
  5. Run the following command:

    (Windows): Administrator
(Linux): Non-root user (use the same non-root user that you used to install the Presentation Server)

    tssh event reinitialize

  6. The command displays the following message and prompts you to confirm.

This command will reinitialize the events and restart the server

    Type Y to continue

    Type N to cancel

Notes: Type Y, if you want to reinitialize the events. The command will automatically restart the Presentation Server after reinitializing the events. Type N, if you want to cancel event reinitialization.

Depending on the size of the events data, the event reinitialize operation may take some time to complete. You may have to wait for a few minutes to view the latest events data on the TrueSight console.

To reinitialize the events on a high-availability Presentation Server deployment

  2. Log in to the host computer that is operating as the standby node.
  3. From the command prompt, go to the <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\bin directory location.
  4. Run the following command:
    (Windows): Administrator
(Linux): Non-root user (use the same non-root user that you used to install the Presentation Server)

    tssh event reinitialize

  5. The command displays the following message and prompts you to confirm:

    This is a standby node.

This command will stop the server after performing some internal operations.

    Type Y to continue

    Type N to cancel

  6. Log in to the host computer that is operating as the active node.
  7. Run the tssh server status command to ensure that the Presentation Server database is up and running. If the database service is not running, use the tssh server start command to restart the database.
  8. From the command prompt, go to the <Presentation Server installation directory>\truesightpserver\bin directory location.
  9. Run the following command:

    tssh event reinitialize

  10. The command displays the following message and prompts you to confirm:

    This is an Active node.

This command will reinitialize the events and restart the server.

Before running the command on the active node, ensure that the command is run on the standby node, and the standby server is shut down.

    Type Y to continue

    Type N to cancel

  11. Restart the standby node.
Depending on the size of the events data, the event reinitialize operation may take some time to complete. You may have to wait for a few minutes to view the latest events data on the TrueSight console.

Where to go from here

After you complete reinitializing events, you can check for any other administering tasks that you want to perform. For more information, see Administering.
