Dashlet library

The dashlet library comprises dashlet templates that enable you to build custom dashboards. Some of the dashlet templates are specific to the data that they display, while others enable you to show more general content. When building your dashboards, you can select any combination of dashlet templates; however, if you select a dashlet template that shows specific data, that data must be available in TrueSight Operations Management at the time you configure the dashlet.

This topic provides the following information about the available dashlets:

Dashlet configuration

When you select a dashlet template from the Add Dashlet page, the properties for the selected dashlet appear in a drawer-like section that slides out from the bottom of the dashboard. You can create a unique, descriptive title for each dashlet.

Available dashlet templates

The following table lists the dashlet templates that compose the dashlet library. The dashlet description includes the properties that you must configure for each dashlet.

The dashlet templates listed depend on the components that you have registered with the TrueSight Presentation Server.

Best practice

Because you can use the same template to create multiple dashlets, you can also use the same title; however, BMC recommends that you use a unique title for each dashlet to avoid confusion.

Applications Overview - Synthetic Open link

Displays a view of the performance of up to 15 applications with synthetic transactions. It displays a timeline of the applications' status. The status is based on the status of synthetic transactions

The following options are available.

  • Static- the dashlet displays data for up to 15 applications that you select.
  • Rule Based- the dashlet displays up to 15 applications that meet the criteria that you select.
  • Single application-If you select a single application in the dashboard Global Filter, the dashlet shows data for that application only.

Monitors - Top/Bottom Performers Open link

Displays a graph that compares the top N or bottom N monitors. The aggregated data and computed for plotting the graph at one hour interval by default.

Recommendation: From the Global Filter > Time Period, ensure that you do not set a time period less than 1 hour.

Example:

By default, your Monitors - Top/Bottom Performers dashlet has aggregated data for every one hour and the graph is plotted with those data points at one hour interval. For example, at 09:00, 10:00, and 11:00 hours.

If you set the Global Filter > Time Period to 15 minutes (less than 1 hour), you may see intermittent data points only at 09:00, 09:15, 10:00, 10:15, 11:00, 11:15 and so on if the data points exist at those 15 minutes intervals. However, the graph does not display 9:30 or 10:45 interval data. This is because this dashlet is designed to aggregate and compute data for display at one hour interval only.
