Installation and upgrade

Updated operating system support for TrueSight Infrastructure Management server

The TrueSight Infrastructure Management server now supports the following operating systems:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (64-bit version): 7.5 and 7.4
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (64-bit version): 12 SP 3
  • Oracle Linux Server (64-bit versions): 6.9 and 7.4

Discontinued operating system support for TrueSight Infrastructure Management server

The TrueSight Infrastructure Management server no longer supports the following operating systems:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (64-bit version): 7.2
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (64-bit version): 11 SP 3
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (64-bit versions): 12 and 12 SP 2

System requirements validation for installing or upgrading Infrastructure Management

When you install or upgrade Infrastructure Management, the installer validates if the system requirements for a large setup are met and only then allows you to proceed with the installation or upgrade. After the installation or upgrade, the system requirements are validated every time that you restart the product.

However, in a non-production environment, you can skip the validation of system requirements and install or upgrade the product. You can do this by running the installer with the -J MINIMAL=true parameter. For more information, see the installation and upgrade instructions.

Similarly, you can start the Infrastructure Management service only when your system meets the system requirements. However, in a non-production environment, you can force the service to start by making some configuration changes. For more information, see Starting and stopping the TrueSight Operations Management components.

Usability improvements

Activate or deactivate data collection at the PATROL Agent by configuring filters in a monitoring policy

You can now activate or deactivate a PATROL Agent parameter that stops or starts data collection and event generation in the PATROL Agent. You can do this by configuring filters in a monitoring policy in the TrueSight console.

This feature avoids the redundant data collection and event generation in the PATROL Agent when you have applied a monitoring policy to restrict the data and event flow to the Infrastructure Management server.

New operator for selecting Agents while creating a policy

While creating a policy, you can now use the in list operator for selecting Agents. The value of the in list operator can be a comma-separated list of Agent host names.

New parameters for the API that lists details of all the policies

With this release, the list API has new parameters that can help you list policies based on additional conditions.

These parameters allow you to list details of all the policies based on a list of monitoring criteria, such as the monitoring solution name, version, monitor type, and so on. You can add these parameters in the request body while running the API (with the POST method).

Support for Atrium Orchestrator Triage and Remediation workflows

The following Triage and Remediation workflows are now supported:

  • Agent Restart
  • ESX Host Down
  • Host Down
