Configuring an Integration Service cluster

Configure an Integration Service cluster to establish high availability (HA) for Integration Services. An Integration Service cluster is an ordered collection of Integration Services.

An Integration Service cluster does not automate load balancing. You can place a third-party load balancer between PATROL Agents and Integration Services to provide automated load balancing for PATROL Agent data collection and events as well as HA. It is not necessary to create clusters for Integration Services in environments or domains that leverage a third-party load balancer between the PATROL Agents and Integration Services. For more information, see High availability deployment for TrueSight Operations Management Open link

Ensure that you have the required permissions to configure and manage Integration Service clusters. For details, see Configuring Infrastructure Management to monitor and manage your infrastructure systems.

Best practice

  • Do not add more than four Integration Services to a cluster.

  • Use meaningful names for clusters and put the information with the maximum impact at the beginning of the cluster name. For example, include the domain name.

  • Provide complete and detailed descriptions for the clusters. For example, include information about the domain or domains in which PATROL Agents that connect to the cluster reside.

  • Assign Integration Services to clusters and leverage HA cell configuration. If you add more than two Integration Services to a cluster, the third and fourth Integration Services added to the cluster must be installed with no cell. Configure them to send events to the same HA event cell pair that the first two Integration Services send events to.

Integration Services that are added to the selected Infrastructure Management Server are displayed in the Available list.

Select the check boxes for the Integration Services in the list and click > to add to the list under Selected.

Important: The first Integration Service in the Selected list acts as the Primary Integration Service of the cluster.

You can change the order for the Integration Services using the up and down arrows.

Note: Integration Service with version earlier than 9.5 and a staging Integration Service cannot be added to an Integration Service cluster.
